SNAS organizes its fifth annual Research Methods Workshop on June 7, 2024, at 10:00 am (EST) by Dr. Yusuf Danisman of Queensborough College. This two-hour long hands-on workshop aims to launch your journey into Python programming and the dynamic realm of data science. Throughout this workshop, we’ll ignite your enthusiasm and drive with real-world examples, showcasing how mastering Python and data science is not only feasible but also beneficial for your field of study or specialization.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be equipped to embark on a self-paced learning adventure that will walk you through the fundamentals of Python and crucial data science principles. We’ll provide curated resources including recommended books, websites, AI tools, and YouTube channels to aid you on your path. About Dr. Yusuf Danisman:

Dr. Danisman, is a faculty member in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Queensborough Community College, CUNY. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from The Ohio State University and worked at the University of Oklahoma before joining CUNY. He teaches Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Data Science courses. Dr. Danisman’s current research is on Financial Machine Learning and Geometric Deep Learning. He is also a steering committee member of the Northeast Big Data Innovation Hub. For more information, please visit his LinkedIn profile.

Registration:

Participants must become a SNAS member to join the workshop. SNAS is a nonprofit organization initiated by an interdisciplinary network of scholars in the United States. SNAS aims to foster socially responsible scholarship by providing global mentorship, organizing academic conferences and workshops, and publishing reports, proceedings, and scholarly work. SNAS activities facilitate sustainable and ethical research practices that lead to social impact. Membership benefits include receiving periodic email newsletters, discounted/waived registration fees for annual SNAS events, and voting rights in executive committee elections. For new members, the registration fee for the 3rd SNAS Annual Academic Conference scheduled to take place at Western Connecticut State University, in Danbury, CT on October 11, 2024, is waived. Current SNAS members whose memberships are valid until June 7 can join the workshop free of charge.
