SNAS organizes its sixth Annual Research Methods Workshop on June 13, 2025, at 11:00 am (EST) by Dr. Ahmet Ozkul of the University of New Haven. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to using ChatGPT throughout the CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) methodology. This session will demonstrate how AI can enhance each stage of the data analytics process — from business understanding to model deployment and reporting. In particular, the workshop highlights:

  • Hands-on exercises with real datasets
  • Guided ChatGPT prompt development
  • Practical applications of CRISP-DM using AI support

Participants will:

  • Understand the CRISP-DM framework and how ChatGPT supports each phase
  • Define business problems and explore context using ChatGPT
  • Perform data exploration and preprocessing with AI guidance
  • Build and interpret machine learning models using ChatGPT
  • Evaluate model performance using AI-generated insights
  • Generate comprehensive reports using ChatGPT

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the intersection of AI and data analytics in a practical and applied setting!

About Dr. Ahmet Ozkul:

Dr. Ahmet Ozkul is a faculty member at the University of New Haven, Connecticut, with research and teaching interests spanning supply chain management, data analytics, and technology-enhanced learning. Over the past five years, his research has centered on the bullwhip effect in manufacturing supply chains, particularly in systems where firms share MRP-based production plans. His work has demonstrated that coordinated production planning parameters can mitigate the negative consequences of demand variability. He has also explored the bullwhip effect in bundled product supply chains, finding that similar coordination is necessary for stability.

In parallel with his supply chain research, Dr. Ozkul has developed innovative tools to support experiential learning in the classroom, including automated exam-generation software and an Excel-based production planning simulation game. His commitment to practical, hands-on learning makes him a strong advocate for using AI technologies like ChatGPT to support data-driven decision-making in education and industry.

Registration:

Participants must become a SNAS member to join the workshop. SNAS is a nonprofit organization initiated by an interdisciplinary network of scholars in the United States.
